Infographic: which brands benefit the most from Google Suggest?
Semji and Yooda, a specialist in digital performance monitoring, identified the brands that today benefit from the influence of Google Suggest by studying the most sought-after keywords, that is, the most expensive keywords on Google Adwords with a search volume above 1,000 searches per month on Google*.
One sector that we find representative stands out in particular: insurance.

Macif, La Banque Postale and MAAF are the brands that benefit the most from Google Suggest.
Based on our selection, Macif, La Banque Postale and MAAF are the brands that benefit the most from Google Suggest. Indeed, they are suggested by Google for insurance-sector keywords with the highest search volume and the highest CPC. As a result, Macif appears in the Google Suggest of the top 5 keywords with the most monthly searches and/or the highest CPC. La Poste, for its part, appears twice in the Google Suggest of this top 5, and MAAF once.
This positioning on such coveted keywords in the insurance sector is a huge advantage, since these brands are suggested directly by Google, which gives them enormous credibility in the eyes of future customers, but also because these Google suggestions are shown even before Google’s paid (adwords) and organic (SEO) results. A true “sweet spot” at the crossroads of branding and SEO.
A large number of queries with a high CPC and high search volume with no brand positioned on their Google Suggest.
On the other hand, we noticed that no brand was positioned on the Google Suggest of certain keywords with significant monthly searches and CPC. This is the case with “assurance auto” (110,000 monthly searches for a CPC of 12.35 euros!), “assurance moto” (22,000 monthly searches and 3.96 euros CPC) and “assurance en ligne” (4,400 monthly searches for a CPC of 11.79 euros). A windfall for anyone who knows how to influence Google Suggest.
Google Suggest: why be there?
Brands have a strong interest in positioning themselves on the Google Suggest of this kind of query. Indeed, “today, most brands are competing on keywords, vying for the same advertising spaces, rivaling in ingenuity to increase their email open rates… But few still care about Google Suggest”, explains Bertrand Girin, CEO of Semji. Many sites offer free tools that let you quickly get an overview of Google suggestions for keywords in your sector and see who is or isn’t positioned on each query. They also make it possible to find Google Suggest ranking opportunities on user queries you might not necessarily think of.
It’s up to brands to take advantage of Google Suggest, because the benefits are numerous: more visibility, traffic, leads and sales. Not to mention that “ being suggested by Google” gives the brand more legitimacy and generates more trust among users. Google Suggest is an even more interesting sphere of influence because, today, 4 out of 10 website visits are made from a mobile phone according to a study by Médiamétrie and EStatWeb from December 2015, and because on mobile, the Google Suggest feature takes up the entire page. The impact and influence of this feature on consumers are not about to decline, as shown by certain recent developments in Google Suggest.
Below you will find our infographic on the brands that benefit the most from Google Suggest in the insurance sector:
* Methodology of the infographic : we selected and analyzed the 300 keywords with the highest CPC (cost per click) with a search volume above 1,000 searches per month on Google. From this list of keywords, we excluded queries related to trade repair services (locksmithing, plumbing, etc.), brand names, and irrelevant queries.
