Semji vs Ahrefs
Ahrefs is the best diagnostic instrument in search marketing, and this page does not pretend otherwise. But the work that closes a gap — the brief, the draft, the review, the published URL — is sold separately: an add-on for the editor, a boost for the fixes, and Agent A on a different subscription and a different login. Semji measures AI and search visibility and produces the content that moves it, on one contract.

The short answer
Ahrefs is a research suite that has started adding production at the edges. Semji is a production platform with the measurement built in. Which one you need depends on whether your team is paid to find the problem or to ship the fix.
- The diagnosis is the deliverable — backlinks, crawl health and rankings, at a depth Semji does not attempt.
- You need AI crawler logs, Google AI Mode, Copilot or Grok coverage, or Share of Voice as a named number.
- You want to start this afternoon at a published price, or for nothing on a permanent free account.
- Paid search data, local rankings, social scheduling and client PDF reporting all have to sit in one subscription.
- You are measured on visibility that improves, not visibility that is reported.
- The team that finds the gap is the team that has to brief, write, review and publish the page.
- You want AI agents producing work inside the platform you already pay for, not on a second login.
- Editorial governance is not optional: brand voice, knowledge base, approvals, comments and version history.
- You want to track the prompts your business actually cares about without buying them by the check.
- Single sign-on has to come with the contract rather than with the top tier.
Feature by feature
Every Ahrefs cell links to the page we read it on, with the date. Four of these rows go to Ahrefs outright, and those rows say so.
Research suite, or production platform
The decisive section. Two of Ahrefs' best products are deliberately absent from it: Semji has no backlink index and no technical site crawler, so there is nothing honest to compare and no row that would be fair to either side. What follows is only the work that happens after the diagnosis.
| Capability | Semji | Ahrefs |
|---|---|---|
| A detected gap becomes a content brief | SemjiYes. GEO and SEO recommendations carry “Add to Planning”, with the visibility impact across every affected prompt attached | AhrefsPartial. Briefs are an Agent A output — $99/mo on top, invite-gated (“Ahrefs customer? Log in to see if you're invited.”), and hosted on LetaidoSource for A detected gap becomes a content brief, checked 1 August 2026 |
| Full-draft AI writing grounded in your brand | SemjiYes. Knowledge Base and Brand Voice are workspace assets applied at generation, on by default for every agent | AhrefsPartial. AI Content Helper is “designed for hands-on writers who want guidance, not finished output”; full articles come from Agent ASource for Full-draft AI writing grounded in your brand, checked 1 August 2026 |
| Page-level optimisation score | SemjiYes. Content Score across seven families — title tag, length, search intents, questions, related terms, incoming and outgoing links | AhrefsYes. Grades a draft against top-ranking pages and colour-codes sentences by subtopic. Sold as an add-on: €89/mo, or €279/mo in the Content KitSource for Page-level optimisation score, checked 1 August 2026 |
| Article planning, assignment and approval | SemjiYes. Planning calendar, custom draft statuses, threaded comments with assignment and resolve, version history, bulk actions | AhrefsNo. Document sharing exists but is “Available for Enterprise accounts only”; no article statuses, no assignment, no threaded comments and no approval chainSource for Article planning, assignment and approval, checked 1 August 2026 |
| Publishing into your CMS | SemjiYes. WordPress including Yoast meta descriptions, Drupal, Contentful, Strapi, a custom MCP server and a send-to-CMS webhook | AhrefsPartial. Agent A “pushes refreshes directly into tools like WordPress without manual handoffs between steps” — WordPress is the one CMS published, on the separate subscriptionSource for Publishing into your CMS, checked 1 August 2026 |
| Producing at volume | SemjiYes. Agents run in bulk across the Planning calendar, with an Activities log and relaunch on failure | AhrefsPartial. The editor is metered per document — one a month on the free account, 50 at €89/mo, 250 in the €279/mo Content KitSource for Producing at volume, checked 1 August 2026 |
AI visibility measurement
Brand Radar's home ground, and the section where Ahrefs is genuinely the broader instrument. Two rows still decide it: how many of your own prompts the subscription tracks, and what the citation report leads to.
| Capability | Semji | Ahrefs |
|---|---|---|
| Mention and citation metrics | SemjiYes. AI Visibility Score out of 100, mention rate, citation rate and average mention position | AhrefsYes. Mentions, Citations, Found in, Impressions and AI Share of Voice, all defined in their help centreSource for Mention and citation metrics, checked 1 August 2026 |
| Prompts prioritised by real search demand | SemjiYes. Every prompt carries a real monthly search volume alongside its topic, persona and funnel stage | AhrefsYes. “Powered by search-backed prompts, not synthetic ones”, and Impressions weight each mention by the prompt's Google search volumeSource for Prompts prioritised by real search demand, checked 1 August 2026 |
| Tracked prompts included in your plan | SemjiPrompts are a workspace asset, not a metered consumable — added through a wizard that classifies the topic for you | Ahrefs5 on Lite, 10 on Standard, 20 on Advanced, from 83 on the $1,499/mo Enterprise tier. Packages add checks from $50/mo, and “Tracking one prompt on one platform in one location uses 1 check.”Source for Tracked prompts included in your plan, checked 1 August 2026 |
| Cited-source analysis | SemjiYes. GEO Sources by AI platform, source type, page type and root domain, with a prompts-citing-a-source column and export | AhrefsYes. Citations at page and domain level, plus “Found in” — pages AI retrieved while generating a response but chose not to cite. Semji does not separate the twoSource for Cited-source analysis, checked 1 August 2026 |
| Share of Voice as a named metric | SemjiNo. Not available under any name | AhrefsYes. AI Share of Voice — a brand's percentage share of impressions against tracked rivals, weighted across platformsSource for Share of Voice as a named metric, checked 1 August 2026 |
| AI platforms tracked | SemjiChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity and DeepSeek — no per-model add-on | AhrefsBroader: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, Grok, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, plus YouTube, TikTok and Reddit as beta Emerging Channels. Claude and DeepSeek are not on their published listSource for AI platforms tracked, checked 1 August 2026 |
Search, analytics and the wider stack
Ahrefs covers more surfaces than Semji does. Two of these four rows go to them outright and a third is theirs on depth; the one that matters most for a content team is where the numbers land.
| Capability | Semji | Ahrefs |
|---|---|---|
| Keyword research and rank tracking | SemjiYes. Daily positions, keyword difficulty, search intents, cannibalisation detection and Competition duels, on data from SEO data providers | AhrefsYes. Their own index, and deeper: 190+ locations down to city and ZIP, 19 SERP features including AI Overviews, Share of Voice against 10 competitors — “Weekly (default)”, daily only with the Project Boost add-onSource for Keyword research and rank tracking, checked 1 August 2026 |
| Search Console and analytics connections | SemjiYes. Google Analytics 4, Search Console, Matomo, Adobe Analytics and Piwik Pro | AhrefsPartial. Their own Web Analytics — a JS snippet or a GA4 import, free to 1M events per project per month — plus “Connect Google Search Console to see which keywords bring visitors from Google.” Google is the connection publishedSource for Search Console and analytics connections, checked 1 August 2026 |
| AI crawler and bot log analytics | SemjiNo. No server-log analytics of any kind | AhrefsYes. Bot Analytics: “Captures all bot activity via Cloudflare. No JavaScript required.” 12+ categories including AI crawlers, free on all paid plans while in beta. Logpush needs Cloudflare Enterprise; the Worker “Works with any Cloudflare plan”Source for AI crawler and bot log analytics, checked 1 August 2026 |
| Social publishing and a scheduling calendar | SemjiNo. A Social Repurposer agent writes the posts; nothing in Semji schedules or publishes them | AhrefsYes. Social Media Manager posts to TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn, Threads and Facebook — “Monitor all social posts across all channels on a visual calendar”, drag-and-drop rescheduling, scheduled and failed statuses. Free on all plans while in betaSource for Social publishing and a scheduling calendar, checked 1 August 2026 |
AI agents and automation
Both companies shipped an agent in 2026. The difference is which login it runs on and which invoice it appears on.
| Capability | Semji | Ahrefs |
|---|---|---|
| Prebuilt agents included in the platform | SemjiYes. Around 24 templates — Content Master, GEO Expert, E-E-A-T Auditor, Legal Compliance, Top 3 Hunter, CMS Publisher — at editor and workspace scope, on Claude Sonnet 5 | AhrefsPartial. Nine prebuilt skills and apps, all inside Agent A: $99/mo for unlimited users, and access is invited rather than boughtSource for Prebuilt agents included in the platform, checked 1 August 2026 |
| Agents that draft, optimise and publish | SemjiYes. One workspace end to end, with agent tools scoped to your Knowledge Base, Brand Voice and live GEO recommendations | AhrefsPartial. Agent A does all of it, on a different contract: “Agent A runs on Letaido… Your account, workspace, and subscription are managed there.”Source for Agents that draft, optimise and publish, checked 1 August 2026 |
| Public API and MCP server | SemjiYes. REST API v1 plus an MCP server with OAuth and PKCE, scoped permissions, audited tool-call logs and the full draft lifecycle | AhrefsPartial. Both ship. The limit is metering rather than capability: “MCP is available on Lite plans and higher, and each data request the AI makes draws from your plan's API unit allowance.” Below Enterprise, “Once you hit your limit, the API stops working until the next cycle.”Source for Public API and MCP server, checked 1 August 2026 |
| Agents inside Slack and Microsoft Teams | SemjiYes. A Teams bot on AppSource that pushes Content Opportunities into a channel and takes the reply in-thread, plus Slack | AhrefsPartial. Agent A delivers into Slack; Microsoft Teams is not among its fourteen published integrations, and the delivery is one-way outputSource for Agents inside Slack and Microsoft Teams, checked 1 August 2026 |
Enterprise readiness
The section procurement reads. Ahrefs answers the European questionnaire better than Semji does, and the row below says so.
| Capability | Semji | Ahrefs |
|---|---|---|
| ISO 27001 certification | SemjiNo. Semji holds SOC 2 Type II; ISO 27001 is not part of it | AhrefsYes. ISO 27001 (2022), and the certificate is the one document on their compliance portal that opens without a request — the rest sit behind “Get Access”Source for ISO 27001 certification, checked 1 August 2026 |
| SSO / SAML | SemjiYes. SAML with automated certificate rotation, on every contract | AhrefsPartial. “Ahrefs supports SAML 2.0 single sign-on, but only on the Enterprise plan. Lite, Standard, and Advanced don't include it.” SCIM runs through support; just-in-time provisioning is “on the roadmap but not yet live”Source for SSO / SAML, checked 1 August 2026 |
| AI usage and cost governance | SemjiYes. Consumption and time saved by workspace, user and feature, with quota and an end-of-contract projection | AhrefsPartial. Credit governance rather than AI governance: a fixed monthly credit quota on Lite, a “fair use” soft limit above it, and pay-as-you-go overage that is off unless you turn it onSource for AI usage and cost governance, checked 1 August 2026 |
| How you buy | SemjiQuote-based, with scoped onboarding and a dedicated customer success manager | AhrefsSelf-serve and published: $129, $249, $449 and $1,499 a month, one seat included below Enterprise and extra seats $40–$100 each. No trial and “We never run discounts” — a permanent free account insteadSource for How you buy, checked 1 August 2026 |

Three things the diagnosis does not do
Not feature gaps — Ahrefs has more features than Semji does. These are the three places where the Ahrefs answer is a second purchase and the Semji answer is the same screen.
From gap to published page
- A prompt shows a rival cited and you absent
- “Add to Planning” opens a brief, with the impact across every affected prompt
- An agent drafts in your brand voice, grounded in your knowledge base
- Scored, reviewed, approved and published to your CMS
The prompts you care about, not the ones you can afford
- Add the prompts your pipeline turns on, classified by topic, persona and funnel stage
- Track mention rate, citation rate and average position against competitors in the topic
- Move the ones that matter, rather than the ones still inside the allowance
AI production your legal team will sign off
- Brand voice and knowledge base applied at generation, on by default
- Legal Compliance and E-E-A-T agents before a human reviewer sees it
- Custom statuses, assignment, comments and version history
- SOC 2 Type II, SAML SSO with certificate rotation, audited API and MCP access
Frequently asked questions
Can I run Semji and Ahrefs together?
Many teams do, and we expect them to. The overlap is narrower than it looks: Ahrefs owns the backlink index and the technical crawl, Semji owns the production line, and the genuinely duplicated part is AI visibility measurement. Teams usually keep Ahrefs for research and link work, and consolidate their GEO tracking where the content actually gets written.
Does Semji replace Ahrefs?
Not for what Ahrefs is best at. Semji has no backlink index, no link-building toolset and no technical site crawler, so if link acquisition or crawl health is a named objective on your team, keep Ahrefs. What Semji replaces is the string of add-ons after the diagnosis — the content editor, the planning spreadsheet, the review chain and the publishing handoff.
Which AI engines does each tool cover?
Ahrefs is broader here and we will not pretend otherwise. Brand Radar's published list is ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, Grok, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, with YouTube, TikTok and Reddit as beta Emerging Channels. Semji tracks ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity and DeepSeek with no per-model add-on — Claude and DeepSeek being the two platforms Ahrefs does not name. If Google AI Mode, Copilot or Grok is a board-level question this quarter, Ahrefs answers it and Semji does not.
What does Ahrefs do better?
A great deal, and it is worth being specific. The backlink index and AhrefsBot are a decade-plus capital investment Semji has no equivalent to. Site Audit is a real technical crawler with always-on crawling and Patches to push the fixes live. Bot Analytics shows which AI crawlers actually reach your pages, collected server-side through Cloudflare — the missing half of the GEO picture, and Semji ships nothing like it. They cover Google AI Mode, Copilot and Grok; they publish Share of Voice as a named metric in both Brand Radar and Rank Tracker; they carry paid-search data, local rankings to ZIP level, scheduled client PDF reporting and Looker Studio connectors. Their ISO 27001 (2022) certificate is public. And you can be running a real audit on your own site inside ten minutes for nothing, on a free account that never expires — which is a genuine advantage over a quote and a demo.
How does pricing compare?
Ahrefs publishes everything: $129, $249, $449 and $1,499 a month, one seat included below Enterprise and additional seats at $40 to $100. Note what sits on top rather than inside — Report Builder at $99/mo, Project Boost at $20 or $200 per project per month, prompt-check packages from $50/mo, and Agent A at $99/mo on a Letaido subscription. The content editor is priced twice on their own site: €89/mo standalone and €279/mo inside the Content Kit on the AI Content Helper page, “From $99/mo” for the same Content Kit on the pricing page, so budget for whichever your rep quotes. Semji is quote-based, because scope varies with workspaces, markets and AI usage, and because production is in the platform rather than beside it. For a like-for-like number, the demo is the fastest route.
Find it, then fix it
Book a demo and we will run your own prompts through both halves of the platform — the visibility report, and what Semji does about it.
