How to use Majestic SEO?
Majestic SEO, now better known simply as Majestic, is an SEO tool in the arsenal of many search marketers. After the end of PageRank, the search industry turned to its metrics to gauge the importance of a site. Following an invitation from SEO CAMP’us, Nicolas Nguyen (co-founder of Semji) shared during his presentation a few tips and techniques on the Majestic® tool with the attendees of this SEO conference. In particular, he covered topics such as Trust Flow, the famous Majestic flames, backlinks, the Clique Hunter tool, PBN link building via the NeighbourChecker tool, and Domain Name (DN) analysis considering IP & IP Class C.
Here is a summary of his talk and the slides from his presentation:
Tips and tricks for the Majestic SEO tool
1. Distinguish the different Trust Flow values of the same domain name and how to compare DNs with one another (URL address, Subdomain and Root domain).
- The different types of Trust Flow are not comparable
- Generally speaking, a homepage URL will tend to have a higher Trust Flow than the domain (homepage URLs higher than internal URLs)
- Tip: rely on the TF Root Domain in general

2. Understand the famous Majestic flame. How to identify that a domain name is spammy by analyzing its flame in Majestic SEO.

3. Detect and leverage the most powerful pages from an SEO standpoint with the Site Explorer tool
This way, you can:
- Identify the internal pages that receive the most Referring Domains
- Optimize internal linking toward your strategic pages
- Optimize your landing page content more thoroughly

4. Find quality backlinks with Majestic SEO’s Clique Hunter tool, or the importance of using link intersection between competitor sites to find the best possible backlink spots.

5. Choose the right anchor distribution: Analyze anchor segmentation, test anchor variation and track how rankings evolve.
- Classify anchors by different types (e.g., url, target, brand, etc.)
- Compare the anchor distribution between your site and those of better-ranked competitors

6. Study the topical Trust Flow
The tool lets you study several DNs in bulk at once (up to 400 DNs/URLs), so you can easily learn the topical Trust Flow of your industry or your niche, by focusing on the DNs from the search results for your keywords. This way you can:
- Quickly identify the Topical TF of a SERP (Search Engine Results Page)
- Prioritize which types of DNs to place links on

7. Use the Majestic API to import and take advantage of Majestic data in Microsoft Excel with the SEOTOOLS plugin.
- Instantly import Majestic data into Excel in bulk
- Easily pair Majestic data with other data: word count, keyword density, etc.

8. Analyze the backlink structure of a DN by looking at the various IPs and Class C IPs of its referring domains. The importance of the number of Class C IPs of referring domains rather than the number of referring domains.
Neighbour Checker:
- Identify the domains on the same IP and on the same Class C
- Detect networks or verify your IP addresses

9. A few figures that may be interesting. The Majesticmillion statistics and how to make the most of its data-rich insights.
- 1.1 Referring Domains per IP
– Warning if your domain names are not on different IPs
- 1.2 RD per Subnet (Class C)
– Caution: if your DNs are not on different Class Cs
- TF/CF ratio: 58%
– Caution: if your DNs have CF/TF ratios > 58%
