How does AI Mode work?
AI Mode turns the Google search engine into an intelligent answer system based on the Gemini 3 model, able to understand, segment, and reason over complex queries written in natural language.
User experience and navigation in AI Mode
The AI Mode experience puts conversation at the center of search. The user opens a dedicated mode where the AI rephrases the query, shows synthesized answers with sources, and allows smooth movement between discussions and content.

Answer structure: summary + steps/tables + links to the web, chips to refine (for example criteria, budget, local).

The answer is usually organized into several parts: a direct summary, steps or tables when they help, and links to the web to go further. Contextual filters (budget, location, criteria) make it easier to refine the search.

AI Mode runs on Gemini 3, combining parallel reasoning, controlled generation, and factual grounding. The whole system sits on an intelligent pipeline: query fan-out → RAG → grounding → contextual synthesis.

AI hallucinations: Built-in citations limit AI hallucinations without removing them. Users still need to check sources directly.

Context window: short memory (about 32,000 tokens on the public version).

Premium features: Deep Research and Deep Think are reserved for Gemini Pro and Ultra plans.

Content filtering: automatic blocking of domains considered unsafe or unreliable.
