Yooda Insight: the complete guide

What is Yooda Insight

The web is full of tools meant to improve how sites rank on Google’s results pages: Ahrefs, Majestic, Botify, SEMrush. Among them is the essential Yooda Insight, a reference in the SEO world. The guide that follows will help you get the most out of Yooda Insight’s features so you can boost your site and stay a step ahead of your competitors.

What is Yooda Insight?

Yooda Insight in figures

Yooda Insight is an SEO analysis tool launched in December 2014. It continuously analyzes 100 million queries used every month in France. They represent 6.3 billion searches on Google. With that database, you can get all the information on the queries in your market. The tool is also known for its competitive analysis. With data on more than 14 million French sites, you can keep an eye on your competitors and see whether they outperform you online.

The Yooda company

Yooda is a brand of the French company Aldeis, a software publisher founded in 2002. The company now offers several SEO tools for organic search professionals, marketers, and SEO agencies:

Yooda Submit: a netlinking service for placing links in directories. 12,000 directories are available in their catalog and can be filtered by topic.

Yooda SeeUrank: an SEO audit tool used to detect the strengths and weaknesses of your site and identify opportunities

Yooda Suggest: a tool that generates keyword lists, analyzes their potential, and evaluates those of the competition.

Yoovi: a ranking of French-language sites by their visibility in search engines.

Most of the features of these different tools now live in Yooda Insight. It is the synthesis of more than 15 years of research by Aldeis teams in SEO tool design.

How much does Yooda Insight cost?

Yooda Insight exists in a free version and a paid version. Which one to use depends on your needs and the size of your company.

Without paying for a Yooda Insight license, you can:

  • See which keywords led people to your site

  • Consult the evolution charts

  • Compare domain names by keyword

  • Know how your site is performing

  • Get access to 25 results per analysis

To get unlimited access to every Yooda Insight feature, you have to spend 39 euros a month.

Among SEO tools, Yooda Insight is one of the cheapest. For example, a SEMrush license costs 62 euros a month. The cheapest Ahrefs plan, in a limited version, is $99 a month. Majestic, at 39.99 euros a month, is the most competitive next to Yooda Insight, but it is also a limited version with a 3-month commitment.

The main features of Yooda Insight

Site performance

Yooda Insight has 4 features, including the “site performance” tab. On that page, you can get information on more than 15 million websites. You can therefore see your site’s monthly organic traffic or evaluate its visibility on the web.

The first chart, at the top of the “site performance” page, shows how the number of search phrases on which the analyzed site ranks on Google’s first page has evolved. It therefore gives a snapshot of how your organic search strategy is progressing. That curve can be compared with those of competing sites. If you have direct competitors you want to overtake on Google’s first page, this chart is a good indicator. Below the chart is the list of phrases on which the analyzed site ranks on Google’s first page. For each keyword, you can see:

  • the page of your site ranking for that query

  • the position of that page in the Google SERP

  • how many times that phrase is searched on Google, in France, each month

  • the organic traffic obtained thanks to that search phrase

  • the level of competition on that query

  • the AdWords cost per click of the queries

  • the number of Google results for that query

On this page you also find a chart that shows the evolution of organic traffic, acquired through clicks on search engine results. That chart can also be completed with the curve of the sites of your choice. This feature makes it easy to run competitive studies and see whether your site is performing relative to others.

Market explorer

Market Explorer Yooda Insight

The “Market Explorer” features let you discover what people search for on Google. It is a database of more than 100 million keywords searched in France. With information on user searches, you can understand your market better. The tool gives you cards to make the right choices when producing content for your site, running SEO optimizations, and launching AdWords campaigns.

Market Explorer therefore helps you understand how people express their needs in your market.

Market Explorer works like a real search engine. To use it, enter a query related to your market, or the URL of a website, in the search bar. You get a long list of user queries tied to the topic or the site you searched.

The Market Explorer page also provides three indicators that tell you about the size of the market you searched. The first is the number of search phrases close to your initial query. The second calculates how many times those close phrases are searched every month on Google. The third is an average of the cost per click of all those close phrases on Google AdWords. For example, by exploring the “SEO” market, I know there are 545 search phrases related to SEO, 41 920 monthly searches around SEO, and that the average cost per click is €0.70.

The list of queries that are semantically close to your search is also completed with other information. For each phrase it specifies the number of Google searches, the level of competition, the cost per click, and the number of Google results. All of these indications let you set your SEO or SEA priorities against real data. All of your analyses can be saved in your Dashboard to make it easier to put your marketing and SEO actions in place.

Leaders

The “Leaders” page analyzes the most visible sites in a market. It lets you identify all of your competitors or potential partners. The same way as “Market Explorer,” enter a phrase related to your market. Yooda Insight generates a ranking of sites in descending order of popularity. That popularity corresponds to the visibility of those sites on Google’s first page. The higher a site ranks on Google, the higher it will rank in Leaders. For each site, you get its organic traffic and the number of phrases on which the site ranks. If you want more information on one of these sites, an icon takes you to its “Site Performance” page.

Dashboard

The “Dashboard” page is the user’s personal workspace. This feature lets you save and organize the search phrases you have selected. That memory then makes it easier to manage SEO and marketing actions. You can also put sites under watch so you are alerted when something moves. Yooda Insight also made it possible to export your Dashboard data in CSV format, so you can open it in Excel.

The strengths and weaknesses of Yooda Insight

Strengths

The Yooda Insight database, especially on searched phrases, is very large. It lets you analyze any market. The Dashboard makes consultants’ work easier, because they can find all the searches they have run. Yooda Insight is also valued for keeping history. On traffic or keyword charts, for example, you can see progress by choosing a time range. That extra is not available on every online tool. On Ahrefs, you cannot change the analysis period for the traffic curve.

The Yooda Insight interface is fairly well thought out and makes it simpler to use.

Unlike Majestic or Ahrefs, where the pile of features sometimes loses the user, Yooda Insight has an interface that makes using it simple and pleasant.

Yooda Insight’s last plus: its price. It is the most affordable online tool on the market.

Weaknesses

This SEO tool still has a few gaps. First, Yooda Insight only gives access to data from French sites. By comparison, Ahrefs gives you a site’s traffic and keyword curve based on the SERPs of about a hundred countries.

Second, if your site is not yet indexed or ranking on Google, you have little chance of finding it in Yooda Insight. As a result, a platform that has only just gone live is left out of Yooda Insight’s coverage.

Who uses Yooda Insight?

Compared with other online tools, such as Majestic or Ahrefs, Yooda Insight stands out. It is one of the few that has simplified SEO data and presented it in a clear, intuitive way. Yooda Insight is also much more limited than its competitors. With these three tools, Site Performance, Market Explorer, and Leaders, it does not match its rivals.

Yooda Insight is therefore not complete enough to be used by SEO consultants and companies specialized in the field. It can, however, be a good fit for SEO beginners who want to rank or follow how their competitors are progressing. A blogger trying to get their site known, for example, can subscribe to a monthly Yooda Insight plan at €39. They will probably have neither the need nor the budget for a SEMrush subscription at €62 or an Ahrefs plan at €99 minimum.
